A Recognition of Panoramic Elevators

Date:2016-03-21

Glass elevator, also known as Panoramic Elevator , is becoming more and more popular in our society, especially for in home applications. Being unfamiliar with this kind of elevator, you may wondering why they are so popular and what makes them so desired. Fortunately, there are interesting tidbits that will tell you the answers.

At the first time you using a panoramic elevator, you may surprised to learn the elevator is made of glass. Really shocked, right? However, in fact, the elevator is not really made of glass. Although there indeed has elevators that made of glass, most of them are made of clear polycarbonate. Then, why use polycarbonate instead of glass? It is simply because clear polycarbonate is bothe cheaper and stronger than glass. Since polycarbonate is 252 times stronger than glass, it definitely is the more desirable material for the shaft of an elevator. Besides, it is also easier and safer to work with clear polycarbonate. And with this kind of material, you don’t have to worry about breaking part of your elevator or injuring yourself on broken edges.

As far as we know, conventional elevators use cables, powerful motors, gears, and lubricants to support themselves. Instead, the panoramic elevator car is propelled by air. The operating principle is as follow: when the elevator rider wants to ascend to the next level the pump will lower that air pressure above the car, once this happens the air underneath the elevator car will begin to push the car upwards. The pump allows pressure to equalize at the desired level. When the rider wants to descend the same happens just in reverse; the pressure is reduced below the elevator car and the car gently falls to a lower level.

You might be thinking that wheelchairs won't fit in panoramic elevators because they're too small. Well, this isn't true. panoramic elevators come in all sizes and the larger models are absolutely wheelchair accessible. In fact, glass elevators are safer for wheelchair users than traditional elevators since there is a smaller risk of a wheelchair user becoming trapped in a glass elevator during a power outage. Since panoramic elevators are air powered and require no cables to move the elevator car, in the case of a power outage, the car will simply descend to the lowest level where the rider can then safely exit.

Have a basic recognition of panoramic elevators, right? With a good recognition of one certain thing, you may use it more properly.
